Home Made Vanilla Yogurt

Homemade Vanilla Yogurt is EASY!!!
Best part is…..it will save you tons of money at the grocery store…..now that’s what I call locally produced!! ![]()
OKAY let’s get started!
Get 8 Cups of Milk (Any kind will do…I use 2%) and put in a pot
Add: 1/3 Cup Powdered Milk (optional…but makes it richer)
Stir Well
Next: Scald the milk (do not boil)
You want to cool the milk down quickly so now is the time to place it in ice water in your sink. Stir it until it is lukewarm (about 100 degrees)
Then add 1 cup of white sugar (or maple syrup), 1/2 cup of plain yogurt (make sure it has active bacterial culture) and 1 Tbsp of Vanilla. Stir Well
Place in mason jars (4 – 500 ml will do)….I used what I had here.
I love saving jars. The large one here is a cleaned Classico Spaghetti Sauce Jar. The lid size is standard.Next place in an oven with the light on. Leave it UNDISTURBED for 10 to 12 hours. (I turn the light off right before I go to bed as long as I didn’t open the door)
Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours before eating to let it set more. I find that if I stir it it will get runny so don’t add any other ingredients (fruit, honey etc) until serving time.
Delicious!!!
